TextExpander can expand cached snippets offline after setup. This comparison concerns account and sync setup, not internet access for every expansion. Import support depends on app version and macro type; test converted snippets. TypeIt4Me 7 does not directly import other apps; older versions had different import options.

Questions? We've got answers.

What transfers from my current text expander?
TypeSnap imports from TextExpander, TypeIt4Me, Raycast, Espanso, Alfred, and aText. It brings over snippets and groups and converts supported fill-ins, date, clipboard, and nested-snippet macros. Unsupported scripts or macros can need manual changes; review the import warnings and test important snippets. See the import guide.
What happens to my data?
Snippets are stored locally on your Mac. Optional iCloud sync uses your private CloudKit database. The app contacts Keybee for licensing and its update service for updates. Clipboard history stores copied text locally and can be switched off. See our privacy policy for details.
Will you ever switch to a subscription?
No. We’ve committed to one-time pricing. If we ever change our business model, existing customers keep their version forever.
Do you offer team or business licenses?
Not currently. TypeSnap is designed for individuals. For team use, each person purchases their own license.
What macOS versions are supported?
TypeSnap requires macOS 26 (Tahoe) or newer. Download the current release directly from this website.
Why does TypeSnap need Accessibility permission?
Accessibility permission lets TypeSnap detect abbreviations and insert expansions across supported apps. It processes a short typing buffer locally to match triggers and uses the focused control to avoid secure password fields by default. Enable it in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. Test TypeSnap in your own apps during the trial.
How does the free trial work, and what happens when it ends?
TypeSnap is free to use for 7 days with no account required. When the trial ends, text expansion pauses and a license prompt appears — but your snippet library stays fully accessible, so you can keep browsing, editing, and exporting your snippets. Enter a license key (a one-time $17.99 purchase) to switch expansion back on. Nothing is deleted and the app never silently disappears.
Does TypeSnap have AI features I can't turn off?
No. The only AI in TypeSnap is the optional AI macro, and it only runs when you put one in a snippet. It uses Apple Intelligence on your Mac or a local Ollama server on your Mac, never a cloud AI service, and you can switch it off entirely in Settings → Advanced. TypeSnap never processes your snippets with AI on its own. Rewrite or Proofread options come from macOS’s own Writing Tools, which TypeSnap turns off by default inside its editors; you can opt back in under Settings → General → System Features.
